Guest Post by Chelsea Gike, Wedding planner at Ready to Rock Weddings and Events
As a wedding planner, floral designer and stylist, I am always looking for inspiring places to visit and spark my creative juices. One of my absolute favourite places to do that is New York. Not only is it a beautiful place to visit, it also has some spectacular places to get married. I figured, hey, why not put together a post that not only shows that vacation in the Big Apple is fabulous, but a great place for a destination wedding!
Whether you choose to visit in the middle of summer or in the dead of winter, New York City has the most incredible sights to see. From the amazing views to spectacular food, there is something there for everyone. I have visited the city for everything from the New Year’s Eve Celebration to the US Open Tennis, and many things in between. Whether you are a first time visitor or a repeat guest, the constantly evolving city never disappoints.
If you are looking to plan a destination wedding in NYC, I would recommend a few different options. Of course, you have your go-to spots; Central Park (the pond or the boathouse are top picks,) Empire State Building or the Chelsea Piers, all offering the quintessential NYC experience. If you are thinking of going somewhere out of the box, definitely look into Top of the Rock, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, or the Manhattan Marriage Bureau. Of course, there are hundreds of amazing options, from quaint cafes and restaurants to grand hotels and rooftops. The vendors available in the city are top of line, so whether you are planning a small celebration or a striking affair, everything can be found in the big city.
For those of you planning a trip to the island just to get away, any of those amazing wedding destinations are great go-to spots to visit as well. There is just something about the city, from the architecture to the layout, to the styles to the sights that will draw you in and make you never want to leave. Aside from the typical sights to see, like Times Square for example, there are hundreds of hidden gems just waiting to be discovered. If you want to avoid the tourist traps and the large crowds, make sure to do some research before you go and decide what your style is and what you must see. No matter what, it will be an amazing experience!
