Today we are sharing a few ways you can use room dividers of different types to divide a single space and create more “rooms” or just add a little privacy. A room divider is a perfect option to create and separate spaces in a studio apartment, to distinguish different areas in a larger room and is the perfect way to add privacy to a shared space or dorm room you may be sharing with a roommate.
.) Curtains as dividers – This is one of the simplest and least expensive ways you can divide a space. Simply mount a curtain rod to the ceiling or use a track system to hang curtains to divide the space. This is great because you can tie back the curtains when you don’t need the privacy, but it still visually divides the space. This is one of the best options to divide living spaces from sleeping spaces and add privacy to your bedroom space
.) Panels as dividers – This method can be as simple as using fabric panels hung from the ceiling in a stationary manor or use a track system so you can slide the panel back and forth to open and close a space. The more affordable options would be to use fabric panels; you can even find panels on track systems from Ikea. If you have more of a budget and want to get more creative the options are endless. You can use wood, acrylic, even glass to divide the space.
.) Metal Curtains as dividers – Products such as Shimmer Screen or DaisyCake are great metal curtain options. You would place these the same way you would use fabric curtains. This just adds a more unique element to the space, along with a new material.
.) Bookshelves as dividers – Shelving is a great way to divide a space that you do not need to close off. This will simply add a visual separation of the spaces and help to define “rooms” in the space. You can control the privacy behind the shelving depending on how you style the shelves. You can choose how much open space to have.
.) Plants as dividers – This is a great way to add some plant life to your space and divide the room. While this options is not going to offer you the most privacy of all the options we have suggested, it is going to visually divide your space and add a natural element to the room. It is a great way to distinguish the living room space from a dining space, or a living space from a home office.
